Expect the GNAC to rank extremely high among its peers for both the Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) and Academic Success Rate (ASR) when data is publicly revealed this Thursday -- just as it has since the conference was formed in 2001.
A year ago, the GNAC set all-time bests in both FGR (65%) and ASR (79%). In last year's report, the GNAC's graduation rate (which is determined based on metrics provided by the U.S. Department of Education) was six points higher than the rate for DII student-athletes overall and 14 points higher than the DII population of non-student-athletes.
The Academic Success Rate, a metric developed by Division II, differs from the graduation rate data in that it takes into account the academic outcomes of student-athletes who transfer from one institution to another (and does not penalize an institution for those student-athletes who leave an institution in good academic standing).
Whichever data one looks at, the GNAC has always been among the conference leaders in Division II in both statistical categories.
