Men's, Women's Elite Eight Tourneys Set for Sioux Falls

Bryan Miller, executive director of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority, led off this week's episode of GNAC Insider to talk about the NCAA Division II basketball tournaments that begin next week in South Dakota.

For the first time, both genders will contest their championship finals simultaneously in the same city. The women's tournament will be held next Monday, Wednesday and Friday; the men's tourney will take place Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Both tourneys take place at the Sanford Pentagon.

Also joining host Robert Lowery on this week's GNAC Insider were MSUB women's basketball coach Kevin Woodin, whose Yellowjackets earned a spot in the Elite Eight by winning the NCAA West Regional on Monday night in Azusa, Calif., and Central Washington baseball coach Desi Storey, whose Wildcats began the week in first place in the GNAC.

(Side note: I had the opportunity to experience Sioux Falls and the Sanford Pentagon in December 2016 when the Alaska Anchorage volleyball team played in the Elite Eight at this same venue. I couldn't have been more impressed by the treatment of the visiting teams by the Sioux Falls Sports Commission and the staff at the Sanford Pentagon. Every city should have a sports commission like Sioux Falls. I can't wait to return to South Dakota next week to watch MSUB in the women's basketball Elite Eight).

Take a listen.
