Nanooks' AD, Golf Highlight GNAC Insider Episode 150

Kayne Gutierrez, interim director of athletics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, headlined this week's episode of GNAC Insider. He joined host Robert Lowery to provide an update to his new position and ongoings within the Nanooks' athletic department, including an overview of coming upgrades to the Patty Center and the three head-coaching searches currently in process. UAF is searching for new leaders in men's basketball, women's basketball and ice hockey.

Gutierrez also touched on his rise from assistant athletic director for compliance, the uniqueness of Alaska's athletics program (Nanooks' sports compete in six different conferences) and how he transitioned from a career as a firefighter into intercollegiate athletics administration.

Other guests on this week's show -- golfer Michelle Waters of Simon Fraser and men's golf coach Luke Bennett of Western Washington -- helped shape the preview of next week's GNAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships at the Couer d'Alene Resort in northern Idaho.
